I have chosen this image as I like how ‘behind the scenes’ it feels. This image was taken behind the scenes as these models waited to go and do their fashion walk for A$AP Rocky’s first AWGE fashion show of his career as a fashion designer. I love how the subject’s clothing feels like a blend of high end red carpet fashion but still keeping it within the feeling of hip-hop streetwear that he is very well known for. Most of the model’s faces are covered, giving them a new identity for them to perform during the show. I find this interesting as it can give any individual the opportunity to play one of these characters on the runway.
If you look into their eyes, you can see them almost zoning out to prepare themselves to perform their new identity as they walk along the runway. That is one of the main things that I find interesting about this image as it gives us an insight into what it is really like to be a model in a high scale and high budget fashion show. Overall, I like this image a lot as it shows us the models preparing to be performative and we can see the point where they ‘snap’ into character.
